How Do You Change Settings Without Re-Uploading?
If a compressed result isn't quite right — quality too low, or the file could be smaller — there's no need to drag the file back in. Adjust the settings and click "recompress"; the tool still remembers the file.
Why re-uploading isn't needed
The moment a file is dropped in, the tool keeps the original file data in the browser's memory, and compression simply generates a new output from that data. Recompressing after changing settings uses that same original data rather than needing you to pick the file from disk again — which also means recompressing introduces no extra quality loss, since it always starts fresh from the original file rather than compressing an already-compressed result again.
A typical use
- Compress a batch of images with the default settings.
- Review the results and notice a few whose quality isn't quite right.
- Adjust compression strength or output format.
- Click "recompress" only on the files that needed it — leave the ones that already look fine untouched.
