How Do You Batch-Convert a Full Shoot of RAW Photos?
A wedding, event, or commercial shoot can easily produce hundreds of RAW files (CR2/CR3, NEF, ARW, and so on). Exporting each one by hand isn't realistic — batch conversion is the only practical approach.
Batch conversion suits delivery sets, not a replacement for editing
Batch conversion produces a standard or basic camera-native development — it doesn't include the per-photo exposure tweaks, local color grading, or blemish retouching you'd do in Lightroom or Capture One. Photos that need real editing (a wedding's hero shots, for example) still belong in a dedicated editing workflow. Batch conversion is better suited to producing a quick client-selection preview set, or handling the bulk of frames that don't need individual editing.
Practical limits on batch size

Local processing runs on your own computer's compute, and RAW decoding is genuinely CPU-intensive — processing hundreds of files at once can noticeably slow down. Splitting into batches means a few more clicks, but it's the safer approach.
Quality-checking before delivery
Don't zip up the batch output and send it straight to the client. Spot-check a few frames first — especially backlit shots, high ISO, and tricky lighting — to confirm the batch settings produced acceptable quality before delivering the whole set.
- Test compression strength on 3-5 representative photos before running the full batch.
- Export a client preview set and the final high-resolution delivery separately at different compression strengths — the preview set can be smaller and load faster.
- Always keep the original RAW files backed up until the project is fully wrapped — don't keep only the compressed JPGs.
