How Does Folder Automation Work?
Folder automation removes the need to drag files in each time — pick an input folder and an output folder, and the tool periodically checks the input folder for new files, compresses them, and writes the results to the output folder.
How the watching actually works
This isn't a system-level background service — it depends on the browser tab staying open with the panel actively watching. The tool checks the input folder every 1.5 seconds for new files and queues them for compression. Closing the tab stops the watching until you reopen it and start again.
When this is actually worth setting up
| Scenario | Worth it? |
|---|---|
| A recurring workflow processing new photos (a daily batch of product shots, say) | Yes |
| Compressing one or two images occasionally | No — manual drag-and-drop is faster |
| Needing it to keep running after closing the browser or stepping away | No — the tab must stay open |
