How Do You Set Up Automatic Folder Compression?
Setting up folder automation only takes picking two folders and clicking a button, but a few details are worth knowing upfront to avoid tripping over them the first time.
Setup steps
- Open the "folder automation" panel on the tool page.
- Click "choose input folder," pick a folder in the system dialog, and confirm the read/write permission prompt.
- Click "choose output folder" and confirm permission the same way — it can be a different folder from the input.
- Confirm compression strength and output format match what you want — these settings are shared with manual compression.
- Click "start watching."
- Drop images to compress into the input folder, then check the output folder once processing finishes.
Test on a small scale first
Before pointing it at a real working folder, create two test folders, drop in one or two images, and confirm compression strength and output format match expectations before switching the input folder to the real one.
- Confirm the compressed output in the output folder matches the quality and size you expect.
- Confirm originals in the input folder move correctly into the "processed" subfolder instead of staying put and getting reprocessed.
